What Is Tuberous Breast?

Tuberous breast is a developmental breast shape variation that may arise during breast development and affect breast shape, base width, lower-pole development, the inframammary fold and the areola structure.

In this condition, the breast base may be narrower than usual, breast tissue may not spread sufficiently and development may be limited, particularly in the lower part of the breast. A higher-than-usual inframammary fold may also contribute to a narrower and more elongated breast appearance.

In some individuals, the areola may be wider or more prominent. Because the two breasts may not be affected to the same degree, asymmetry in volume, shape and position may also be present.

Swelling, tightness, tenderness and temporary bruising may occur during the early period. Using the supportive bra recommended by the physician, performing regular wound care and attending follow-up appointments are important for monitoring recovery.

First Days

First Weeks

Later Period
