A More Balanced, Refreshed and Natural Upper-Face Expression

Brow lift is a surgical procedure that evaluates the position of the brows, forehead and eye area as a whole to create a more balanced appearance in the upper face.

Brows that descend over time or are naturally positioned lower may make the eye area appear more tired or heavy. Surgical planning considers not only brow height, but also brow shape, forehead anatomy, eyelid structure and the patient's natural facial character.

01
Assessment of Brow Position The current height and shape of the brows, together with anatomical differences between the right and left sides, are evaluated in detail.
02
Forehead and Periorbital Harmony The relationship of the brows with the forehead, upper eyelids and surrounding eye area is evaluated together to create a more harmonious plan.
03
Personalized Direction of Lift Which part of the brow is repositioned, to what degree and in which direction is determined according to the patient's anatomy.
04
Planning Focused on Natural Expression The aim is not to raise the brows excessively, but to create a more balanced and refreshed upper-face appearance while preserving the patient's natural facial character.

What Is a Brow Lift?

Brow lift is a surgical procedure that evaluates the current position of the brows, the forehead and the eye area as a whole to create a more balanced and refreshed appearance in the upper face.

With aging, the tissues of the forehead and brow region may descend, causing the brows to appear lower and the upper eye area to look heavier. In some patients, a low brow position may instead be related to anatomical and genetic characteristics rather than aging.

Surgical planning does not focus only on how high the brow should be repositioned. Brow shape, the position of its inner and outer portions, forehead height, hairline, upper eyelid and the patient’s overall facial character are evaluated together.

ELIGIBILITY

Who May Be a Candidate for a Brow Lift?

Patients who are concerned about structural changes in brow position or changes that have developed over time may be evaluated for a brow lift after a detailed assessment of the upper face.

Patients who feel that their brows have gradually descended over time

Patients with a naturally low brow position

Patients concerned about drooping of the outer portion of the brows

Patients who feel that a low brow position makes the upper eye area appear heavier

Patients with noticeable differences in position or shape between the brows

Patients whose general health is suitable for surgery and who have realistic expectations about the results

A heavy appearance of the upper eyelid is not always caused solely by brow descent. Excess upper-eyelid skin and brow position are evaluated together to determine whether blepharoplasty, brow lift or a combined approach may be appropriate.

UPPER FACE ANALYSIS

What Is Evaluated When Planning a Brow Lift?

For a natural-looking result, not only brow height but also the complete anatomical relationship between the brows, forehead and eye area is evaluated.

01

Brow Position

The current height of the inner, middle and outer portions of the brows, as well as anatomical differences between the right and left sides, are evaluated.

02

Brow Shape

The natural brow arch and overall facial character are assessed to determine which portion of the brow should be repositioned and in which direction.

03

Forehead and Hairline

Forehead height, hairline position and scalp characteristics are considered when selecting the surgical technique.

04

Upper Eyelid

The effect of brow position on the upper eyelid is evaluated, and blepharoplasty may be considered within the same plan when appropriate.

PERSONALIZED PLANNING

Preoperative Planning for Brow Lift

The technique and direction of lift are not the same for every patient. Planning is tailored according to the patient’s anatomical characteristics and the intended change.

01

Upper Face Analysis

Brow position, brow shape, forehead height, hairline and the overall anatomy of the eye area are evaluated.

02

Determining the Direction of Lift

The appropriate degree of repositioning is determined for the inner, middle or outer portion of the brow according to individual needs.

03

Selecting the Surgical Technique

Endoscopic, temporal or more extensive surgical approaches are evaluated to determine which is most appropriate for the patient’s anatomy.

SURGICAL APPROACHES

Brow Lift Techniques

Different surgical approaches may be used for brow lift. Technique selection is based on the degree of brow descent, forehead and hairline anatomy, and the intended change.

01

Endoscopic Brow Lift

This approach uses endoscopic visualization through small incisions placed within the scalp to reposition tissues of the forehead and brow region.

02

Temporal Brow Lift

A more limited surgical approach through the temporal region may be considered particularly when repositioning of the outer brow is the main concern.

03

Coronal Brow Lift

For more extensive changes involving the forehead and brow region, a broader surgical approach through the scalp may be used. Suitability is assessed according to forehead and hairline anatomy.

04

Combined Surgical Planning

If brow descent is accompanied by excess upper-eyelid skin or other upper-face changes, procedures such as blepharoplasty may be considered within the same surgical plan.

SURGICAL PROCESS

How Is Brow Lift Surgery Performed?

Although the details of surgery vary according to the selected technique, the main aim is to reposition the brow and forehead tissues in a controlled manner along the planned direction.

01

Surgical Marking

The current brow position, intended new position and incision sites are marked before surgery.

02

Incisions and Surgical Access

Depending on the selected technique, incisions are generally planned within the scalp or temporal region.

03

Tissue Repositioning

The brow and associated forehead tissues are repositioned and secured in a direction suited to the patient’s anatomy.

04

Incision Closure

After the surgical adjustments are completed, the incisions are closed using appropriate techniques and the recovery process begins.

NATURAL EXPRESSION

How Is a Natural Brow Appearance Achieved?

The aim of brow lift is not to raise the brows as high as possible, but to create a more balanced relationship between the brows, forehead and eye area while preserving the patient’s natural facial character.

01 · Brow Shape

The natural brow arch is preserved while aiming for a position that suits the patient’s facial character.

02 · Direction of Lift

Rather than lifting the entire brow in the same direction, the direction of repositioning is individualized according to the areas that require adjustment.

03 · Periorbital Harmony

The new brow position is planned to remain harmonious with the upper eyelid, forehead and overall facial proportions.

HOLISTIC APPROACH

Can a Brow Lift Be Performed Together with Blepharoplasty?

Brow position and upper-eyelid anatomy are closely related. In some patients, both brow descent and excess upper-eyelid skin may contribute to a heavy appearance around the upper eye area.

In such cases, brow lift and upper-eyelid blepharoplasty may be considered within the same surgical plan. If the concern is related only to brow position, however, blepharoplasty may not be necessary.

The appropriate procedure or combination of procedures is determined by evaluating brow position, upper-eyelid structure, forehead anatomy and the patient’s goals together.

POSTOPERATIVE

Recovery After Brow Lift

Recovery may vary depending on the extent of the technique used and the patient’s individual healing characteristics.

Swelling, bruising, tenderness or tightness may occur around the forehead and brows during the early period. These findings gradually decrease as healing progresses.

First Days

Swelling, tightness and temporary tenderness may occur around the forehead and eyes. Rest and adherence to the surgeon’s recommendations are important.

First Weeks

As swelling and bruising decrease, the return to daily and social activities is planned in a controlled manner according to the patient’s recovery.

Later Period

As the tissues adapt to their new position, the appearance of the brows and upper face becomes more natural.

LONG TERM

Results and Long-Term Appearance

After brow lift, the aim is to reposition the brows in greater balance with the overall facial anatomy and create a more refreshed appearance around the upper eye area.

During the early postoperative period, swelling may cause the brow position to differ from its final appearance. As swelling subsides and the tissues adapt to their new position, the result becomes clearer over time.

Surgery does not stop the natural aging process. The changes achieved may be long-lasting, although the forehead and brow tissues continue to be affected by natural aging over time.
